Ellinger is on Hwy 71, 12 miles east of La Grange
The Festival kicks off with a small town Parade at 11am, complete with Firetrucks, Sherrif's Mounted Patrol, Custom Cars, and floats from area towns. After the Parade, beginning at 11am, BBQ (Beef Chicken and Sausage), is served with all the trimmings for $6. Beer is $1.50 a can, soda's are a dollar. In years past from noon until ??? there has been Live Music, along with some arts and crafts, and helicopter rides should be available. This festival benefits the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce. For those with nothing else to do the rest of the day Sunday, There's usually a free dance from 3pm until 7. Ellinger consists of 2 gas station/convenience stores and a post office, so I'm not sure where the commerce is, but the Chamber of Commerce building where the BBQ and things will be is located 2 blocks north of Hwy 71 between Grover and FM 2503. Turn north (left) between Shell and Chevron and you can't miss it two blocks north of 71 on the right. This Festival runs Friday night Saturday and Sunday, every year on the last weekend in May which almost always falls on Memorial Day weekend. Note: this was written to cover the 2001 events and times, slightly modified in 2002 and should be correct for 2003 but since I don't have the itenary in front of me I'm not responsible for errors or ommissions.
